Amedeo Clemente Modigliani (1884 – 1920) was an Italian painter and sculptor. He is known for portraits and nudes in a modern style characterized by a surreal elongation of faces, necks, and figures.

The artwork ‘Jeanne Hébuterne’ was created in 1919 and features Modigliani’s wife sitting in a large armchair.
